Unitic (https://unitic.ai) is operated by AlaLinks ("we", "us"). AlaLinks is the trading name of 1001383479 Ontario Inc. By accessing or using the platform you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the service.

§1Acceptance

By accessing or using Unitic (the service), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the service.

Unitic is a product of AlaLinks. An email from an alalinks.com address, or a screen that names AlaLinks, comes from the same operator, 1001383479 Ontario Inc. — not from a third party.

§2Account types

We offer self-serve AI subscriptions (Intro, Basic, Pro, and MAX) and guided plans (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond) that include human consultants. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Accounts are for individual use only and may not be shared or resold.

§3Age requirement

The service is intended for individuals aged 18 and above. By using Unitic, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

§4Data security & privacy

Your personal data is stored securely in compliance with applicable laws, including PIPEDA in Canada and GDPR where applicable. For full details on how data is collected, used, shared, and stored, see our Privacy Policy.

§5Uploaded content & user license

You own all content you upload (CVs, transcripts, statements, messages, etc.). By uploading content you grant us a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to process and display it solely to deliver and improve the service. We do not use your data to train external AI systems.

§6Email sending and your Gmail

Unitic helps you write emails to professors. By using these features you understand and agree that:

Sending from your Gmail is optional and separate from signing in. If you connect Gmail (Settings › Email Control › Your Own Email), the emails you write and click Send on go out from your Gmail address; they appear in your Gmail Sent folder and replies come to your inbox.
Unitic only ever has permission to send. It cannot read your inbox, so replies are not tracked automatically; you can paste a reply into Unitic yourself.
Emails are drafted by the Email Agent using each professor's public profile (publications, recent research, lab focus) matched against your CV. You review every email, and nothing is sent until you click Send.
If you have not connected Gmail, an email Unitic sends for you goes out through Unitic's own mail server, with Reply-To set to your address.
Unitic does not connect to Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar. Meetings and reminders live in Unitic's own calendar.
You can disconnect Gmail at any time. How Unitic handles data from Google is set out in the Privacy Policy.
All drafting consumes tokens from your daily pool (the same pool as agent prompts and document drafting).

§7AI features & accuracy disclaimer

Unitic uses AI agents for matching, writing assistance, and academic discovery. AI outputs are generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies or outdated information. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated result — you remain fully responsible for how you use it.

You agree not to submit AI-generated content as your own academic work without independent review and verification. We are not responsible for academic penalties, rejections, or disciplinary actions resulting from such use.

§8Payments, renewals & refunds

Paid plans are processed via Stripe, PayPal, or other supported gateways; we never store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled — you can cancel anytime in your account settings, and access continues until the end of the current billing cycle. We send an email reminder before each renewal.

Refunds may be requested within 48 hours if the purchase was accidental, a technical issue prevented use, or advertised features were unavailable. Guided plans (Bronze–Diamond) carry their own published refund terms, subject to an intake condition check. Refunds return to the original payment method.

§9No admission guarantee

Unitic is a tool and a service, not a guarantor. Except where a specific guided plan states otherwise in writing, we do not promise any admission, scholarship, or interview outcome — decisions are made by universities, not by us.

§10User conduct

You agree not to:

Misuse or disrupt the platform.
Share, sell, or rent your account.
Upload illegal, harmful, or confidential third-party data.
Attempt to bypass security or access other users' information.

§11Intellectual property

All content, design, branding, UI, software code, and architecture on Unitic is the exclusive property of 1001383479 Ontario Inc. and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, scrape, clone, mirror, or otherwise exploit any part of the platform for commercial, competitive, or derivative purposes without our written permission.

§12Service availability

We make reasonable efforts to ensure uptime and data safety but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for data loss caused by system or user errors, downtime, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

§13Limitation of liability

The service is provided on an as is and as available basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using the service.

§14Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent or abusive activity. You may stop using the service at any time. After deleting your account, you cannot register again with the same email for 7 days, as an abuse-prevention measure.

§15Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Toronto, Ontario, without limiting your local consumer rights as required by law.

§16Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Changes are communicated via email or platform notice; continued use after the effective date indicates acceptance.
